sir,

Suspension Proceedings against Mr. F. Howell.

I

beg to acknowledge the receipt of the

notice dated the 28th. October last, requesting me to attend

before the Executive Council, this afternoon at 2.15 to give

evidence in the above proceedings.

The story of my dealings with Mr. F. Howell

is a very long and complicated one as is apparent from the

statements contained in my petition and in the statement of

claim in my action against Mr. F. Howell, being Action No. 88

of 1908. To present the facts on which my charges against

Mr. Howell are based in a clear and satisfactory manner is

a difficult matter for anyone not a trained lawyer and

practically impossible for me on such short notice as I have

received. I therefore beg that the investigation of my charges

against Mr. Howell may be postponed until I have time to get

legal assistance and am able to put the facts before the

Council in effective form.

I would, however, prefer that the hearing

of the charges be postponed until after the hearing of my

action against Mr. Howell, which action now that my Counsel

Mr. Slade has returned to the Colony will be pressed on with

the utmost speed.

I am ete.#,

(sd.) John Tatamı.
